Additional Information

Several popular country tunes made their way into this story, including:

"Long Lonesome Road" by C.W. McCall
"Stand By Your Man" by Tammy Wynette
"Two Doors Down" by Dolly Parton

As much as these songs really help to create the right atmosphere for this episode, they are also probably the main reason "Welcome to Homerville" was never released commercially, as the CBC would have had to pay considerable license fees for each song. CBC, like any other broadcaster, can use whatever music they want in their own on-air productions, but to release that production in a new format, such as on a cassette or a CD, additional licensing fees have to be paid.  (Neil Marsh)

Reader Comments

I've probably heard this episode a hundred times. It is rich with atmosphere and is easy to immerse yourself into. The first time I heard it I was confused and relieved once the announcer came on to explain things ("Still with us?"). Neil Dainard is fantastic in this story!  (Kevin Hartnell)
