[needed] (CBC) [needed] (CBCE) While driving to her friend's cottage, Sue has run off the road into a snowbank. As darkness begins to fall, she starts to panic, especially when she hears the sound of footsteps. Lucky for her, it's a polite young man who offers to put her up for the night at his parent's cottage. Or is it a young man? (DHPA) A city girl's car breaks down in the country in the dead of winter, and chilling events start to occur in the cabin of the mysterious young man who offers her a place to stay for the night. I'm a sucker for ghost stories so I really enjoyed this episode. I wasn't able to predict the ending either. They did a great job of conveying the solitude and isolation with fantastic work on the sound. This is one of my favorite Nightfall episodes! (Kevin Hartnell) I recall listening to this episode after a Friday "As it happens" while driving on Highway 11 from Orillia to North Bay Ontario one fall evening. I vacationed in that area while young and was in grad school at the time. The episode really brought to life the sensations of winter in cottage country and the isolation one must feel. Thank you for the website. (Paul Buszka) |
