Commercial Synopsis: In his classic collection of Irish folktales, W.B. Yeats called this one 'a magnificent story'. Like many of the great legends and fairy tales, it is both rollicking and shuddery in its depiction of a wild Irish boyo who gets his comeuppance from The Old Ones, a malicious band of elves whose special job it is to punish young scalliwags (sic) like Teig. For the whole of the blackly comic night, Teig must drag a corpse on his back over half Ireland, desperately trying to bury it before dawn. It's not just that the dead man is talkative. Every possible grave is already occupied and what angry tenants say and do to poor Teig must be heard to be believed.  (CBC)
